WINNERSANDWHINERS.COM – The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will be trying to snap their five-game losing streak when they take on the UCF Knights on Friday night.
Knights Going For First Place In American East Standings
The Knights are playing well at the moment and have won their last three games and four of their last five games. They are one game behind the Cincinnati Bearcats in the American East standings and will be trying to catch up to the division leaders with a win over the struggling Golden Hurricanes
UCF has played well offensively this season, averaging 46.3 points per game. They are averaging 324.9 passing yards and 226.1 rushing yards per game.
Dillon Gabriel leads the Knights attack and has thrown for 2,516 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions, while Otis Anderson leads the team with 543 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The Knights have also played well defensively, holding opponents to 22.4 points per game. They have struggled against the run in recent weeks and gave up 240 yards in their last game. They will need to play better against the run to get past the Golden Hurricane on Friday.
Golden Hurricane Going For Third Consecutive Win Over Knights
Tulsa has lost five straight games, but the team has played well in four of those games and will try to pick up their first conference win of the season against UCF, and extend their winning streak over the Knights to three games.
The Golden Hurricane haven’t played well on defense this season, giving up 33 points per game. They have given up 38.4 points per game during their losing streak and will need to do a better job against opposing offenses if they want to beat the Knights on Friday.
Tulsa hasn’t been great on offense either, averaging 24.4 points per game. But, they have a very good passing game that is averaging 272.2 passing yards per game, and they should be able to move the ball through the air against the Knights, who are giving up 209.8 passing yards per game.
Zach Smith has been the key to Tulsa’s success on the offensive end, completing 54.7 percent of his passes for 2,440 yards, 12 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He finished with 270 yards and one touchdown in their last game and will need to be at his best to help his team pick up the win.
The Golden Hurricane have lost their last five games, but they are the best bet here because they do not go down without a fight and have played well against the spread, which the Knights haven’t. The Knights have the eighth-best passing attack in the country, but they will have a hard time throwing the ball against the Golden Hurricane, who are giving up 202 passing yards per game. The Golden Hurricane will be able to run against the Knights, who are having trouble stopping the run and gave up 240 rushing yards and two touchdowns in their last game. With the Knights averaging 226.1 rushing yards per game, they will eventually overpower the Golden Hurricane and win the game, but the Golden Hurricane will not lose by more than 17 points.
Prediction: Tulsa Golden Hurricane +17
