Today we got the logo and the name for the brand new XFL franchise that will be playing in Tampa come 2020. The green and gold colors are for the new Tampa Bay Vipers.
Also announced were the names for the rest of the new spring football league. The Dallas Renegades, Houston Roughnecks, L.A. Wildcats, New York Guardians, St. Louis Battle Hawks, Seattle Dragons, and D.C. Defenders are the eight that make up the new football league.
In a morning press conference in New York the league made the announcement.
“The XFL is about football and fun, and our team identities are intended to signify just that,” said XFL President and COO, Jeffrey Pollack. “Now it’s up to our fans and players to help write the story. What happens on the field and in the community, in the years ahead, will determine the true spirit of each team.”
The pool of players that will be part of the league draft will be known in the coming week’s but the XFL recently signed former Steelers QB Landry Jones as the league’s first quarterback.
Once the final cuts are made in two weeks by the NFL then look for the XFL to target other quarterbacks who are released when rosters cut from 90 to 53 on August 31.
The February 2020 relaunch will fall two years after Vince McMahon’s announcement of the XFL’s revival
