Twitter Outraged At Lack of Tony Gwynn Recognition

During Tuesday night’s annual All-Star game, there was plenty of buzz about Yankees great Derek Jeter and how it will be his 14th and final All-Star game. Yet, there was no mention whatsoever by the FOX broadcasters or a tribute to the San Diego Padres Hall of Famer, Tony Gwynn, as Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Kaduk points out.

Gwynn died at the young age of 54 a month ago today from cancer. He blamed his cancer on chewing tobacco during his career. Gwynn made 15 total All-Star appearances, all but one year from 1984 to 1999. He was loved by many baseball fans long after his retirement and after his death on June 16.

Outraged fans took to Twitter to rage at MLB and FOX Sports about the lack of recognition.

Regardless of FOX Sports and MLB’s forgetfulness, the Padres made a splash of their own, without the use of any actual words.
