Former Titans Kicker Rob Bironas Dies In Car Crash

Ex Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas has died in a car crash, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

The Metro police say Bironas lost control of his 2009 GMC Yukon Denali and crashed after 11 p.m after speeding down the road and attempting to turn. The car ended up hitting some trees before rolling over in a drainage culvert. Bironas was transported to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and pronounced dead on arrival.

Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron says Bironas had turned on Battery Lane from Franklin Pike. He appeared to be heading home when he crashed. He doesn’t live too far from the crash site.

The team said in a statement early Sunday morning that it was “deeply saddened” to learn about Bironas’ death.

The 36-year-old had 1,032 points in nine years in the NFL. He fell just 28 points shy of Al Del Greco, the top scorer in history for the Houston Oilers / Tennessee Titans. His website has been updated with the following message:
