Game Seven Thoughts

Bringing you looks at tonight’s game seven from all over

The Lightning have been at it since early October, but everything comes down to Wednesday night’s game seven.  The Eastern Conference Finals are tied at three games apiece, and Tampa Bay is buzzing with excitement.

On Tuesday, Rock Riley spoke with Capitals radio host Ben Raby about the Caps and the deepest playoff run they’ve had with Alex Ovechkin.  The Russian great was fantastic in game 6, but can Washington finally break through and make the Stanley Cup Finals with this team?

Rock will take his show on the road this afternoon, broadcasting from The Sail right there next to Amalie Arena in the buildup to game seven.  The Rock Riley Show airs from 3-6 on Sports Talk 1040 Tampa Bay as well as right here, streaming on

Sports Talk Florida will be all over Game Seven for Lightning fans, with Tim Williams tweeting from the building and road correspondent Chris Lynch following along from afar.

It has been an up-and-down series, with the Capitals looking dominant in Tampa in games one and two before the Lightning flipped the script on Washington on the road.  Game 5 was part of Andrei Vasilevskiy’s coronation as one of the NHL’s top goaltenders, but game 6 was perhaps the best the Capitals have played all season and it came with their backs to the wall.  It’s anybody’s guess which team has the edge coming into Wednesday night’s deciding game.

It has been a long season.  Tampa Bay got off to the best start in franchise history, Amalie Arena hosted the NHL All Star Game on Gasparilla Weekend, there have been line changes, trades, and an up-and-down finish to the regular season that left some fans nervous and wondering.  This is now month eight of the 2017-18 season for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it all comes down to sixty more minutes of playoff hockey.
