GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida star linebacker Ronald Powell could miss the season after tearing a ligament in his left knee. Coach Will Muschamp announced the extent of Powell’s injury Monday. The junior pass-rushing specialist was injured in Saturday’s spring game.
Powell was originally thought to have a sprain but further tests showed that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament. He needs surgery and will require at least four to six months of recovery and rehabilitation.
Powell led the Gators with six sacks last season and nine tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
