Florida’s Shaw, Trail to Transfer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida safety Josh Shaw and defensive end Lynden Trail are transferring, the latest players to leave the program during coach Will Muschamp’s first season.

Muschamp thanked the players for their contributions and wished them luck in the future.

With Shaw and Trail gone, the Gators have lost 11 players since Muschamp took over in January. The others are Janoris Jenkins, Dee Finley, Robert Clark, Gerald Christian, Mike Blakely, Chris Dunkley, Michael McFarland, Chris Martin and Javares McRoy.

Shaw, a redshirt freshman from Palmdale, Calif., has 22 tackles in 11 career games. He missed Florida’s game against Furman on Nov. 19 to spend time with his ailing grandfather. Shaw says his transfer is a family decision, not a football decision.

Trail, a redshirt freshman from Miami, has not played.
