Graduating punter an NFL hopeful
In NFL Draft season, it’s not often you hear a punter’s name come up, but Johnny Townsend isn’t the kind of punter who comes around very often. Townsend joined Rock Riley on Wednesday to discuss the Gators as their spring game approaches.
For his entire tenure at the University of Florida, Townsend was one of the best punters anywhere. His efforts gave the Gators field position advantages, and NFL scouts have taken notice.
Townsend’s name now comes up in extended mock drafts from time to time, and the punter is thinking about his future in football. There were no punters selected in the 2017 Draft, but 2018 could be different.
