Florida State Seminoles Look To Dominate Orange

Florida State Seminoles Take on the Syracuse Orange

The Florida State Seminoles travel to Syracuse to face the Orange this weekend.  Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Carrier Dome.  Florida State (7-3, 4-3) had an impressive win when they hosted Boston College last Saturday 45-7.  Syracuse hosted North Carolina State and lost 35-20.

FSU is looking for their third straight win while the Orange are hoping to avoid their third straight loss.  If FSU is able to get the win, it would be their first three game win streak of the season.  If the Orange lose this game, it would be their first three game loss of the season.

Florida State is going into the game as three touchdown favorites.  The Orange are looking for their first win verses a top-20 team this season and the ‘Noles are ranked 17th.  This will be the tenth meeting between the two teams, with FSU holding an 8-1 record over ‘Cuse.

Florida State has already clinched a chance to play at a bowl game, whereas Syracuse need a win on Saturday and then a win at Pittsburgh next week in order to go to be bowl eligible.

Running back Dalvin Cook has 3,941 yards, 19 yards short of breaking Warrick Dunn’s 20-year-old record of the Seminoles all-time leading rusher. Expect Cook to come into the game motivated and to run all over the Orange.

The Seminoles have looked well-balanced in their last two wins.  The offense had done an excellent job of running and passing the ball, which is keeping the defense guessing.  FSU’s defense has also played well, not allowing more than 20 points in each of the team’s last two wins.

Florida State is looking to win this game before hosting in-state rival Florida Gators the following Saturday in Tallahassee.  The Seminoles will most likely be favored in that game as well, which may mean they can end the season on a four game winning streak and hot going into their bowl game.

The ‘Noles are too talented at on both sides of the ball for the Orange.  If the Orange have any shot at even staying in this game, they have to pull score early and often.  That is going to be tough to do with the ‘Noles defense playing well as of late.

Florida State 38, Syracuse 14
