Florida State’s Christmas List, What Do The Seminoles’ Need This Year?

Florida State is Asking Santa For A Lot This Year

Christmas may have came a little early for the Florida State Seminoles this year.  It was announced Monday that Jimbo Fisher signed a contract extension through 2024.  But that doesn’t mean that the Seminoles aren’t going to ask for more.

Beat Michigan

The first wish on their list is for a win verses Michigan on December 30 in the Orange Bowl.  This is a huge game for both teams, but the Seminoles want to end the season with a big win verses one of the top programs in the country.  Michigan went 10-2 this year and was one game away from almost certainly earning a spot as one of the four teams to compete for a national championship.  The Seminoles may need a little Christmas magic to help them get the win against Michigan.

Cook Returns

The second item on their list is for running back Dalvin Cook to stay one more year.  Odds are Cook will make the leap to the NFL, but there’s always hope that he will stick around for his senior season.  ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Cook as one of the top players to be drafted this year and will most likely go in the first half on the first round, so it would be wise of him to go to the NFL next year.  But make no mistake about it, the Seminoles would gladly welcome him back with open arms.

Improved Offensive Line

Next on the list is for the Seminoles’ offensive line to be working hard in the offseason to improve.  It seemed that every time quarterback Deondre Francois dropped back to pass, he would get hit.  Francois even had to exit games this year, due to the hits he was taking.  The offensive line has to improve if they want the to be considered contenders for next year.

Bulk Up Francois

The last item on the Seminoles’ Christmas list is for Francois to put on some holiday weight. Maybe Santa will put some protein shakes under the tree for him.  He is listed at 6’2 and 205 lbs, but with him taking as many hits as he has this season, he will need to get bigger so he can withstand the punishment those shots take over the course of the season.

Francois was constantly being looked at by trainers, but again, that is more because of the lack of blocking his offensive line provided him.  If Francois doesn’t add on some muscle and the offensive line doesn’t improve, he may be asking Santa for body armor next year.

Florida State may be asking for a lot to improve their team, but first thing’s first…Beat Michigan.

Merry Christmas ‘Noles Nation!
