Walk-On Defies Odds at Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Miles Levine got the crazy idea two years ago. He was going to play college football.

Never mind that he did not play in high school, or that Vermont only offered it as a club sport when he was an undergraduate student there. Not only did Levine decide he was going to play — he decided it would happen at Miami.

Against all odds, it worked out.

Levine will be on the field Friday, honored along with Miami’s seniors before the final game of the season. He’s a graduate student who has appeared in one game with the Hurricanes, helping out for one play on kickoff coverage against Duke.

Miami officials say he’s believed to be the first Vermont native to play football for the Hurricanes.
