BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Carl Pelini moved quickly for his first recruiting class at Florida Atlantic.
Less than two months after being hired as Howard Schnellenberger’s replacement with the Owls, Pelini received 23 letters of intent on Wednesday. FAU also had six early enrollees, pushing the total class to 29.
Of the newcomers, two are sophomores and eight are juniors. Pelini says he’s pleased with the balance between offensive and defensive signees, and notes that each of the new Owls comes from winning programs.
Pelini says the class “is further evidence of the talents of this staff, and the potential of this program moving forward.”
FAU was 1-11 last season. Pelini came to the Owls after working under his brother Bo Pelini at Nebraska.
