Keys to Boston College-UCF Game

As we get closer to Boston College-UCF Game approaching we look at a couple keys in the game to keep an eye on as your watching the game.

When The Knights have the ball a key match will be The Eagles defensive line which seems to be the weakness of a strong defensive unit. In the loss to Northwestern, BC gave up 227 yards on the ground. Expect UCF behind its versatile line to try and exploit this fresh off rushing for eight touchdowns and 316 yards rushing in win over Charleston Southern. BC Defense strength is at Linebackers led by all-American candidate in middle linebacker Luke Kuechly. Kuechly led the nation last season in tackles and had 18 tackles in the loss to Northwestern. The 18 tackles was the 23rdconsecutive game Kuechly has recorded it least 10 tackles in a game. BC has one of best linebacking core in the nation but defensive line is young and suspect to the run if last week was any indication. Expect a heavy dosage of running game by UCF early to set up big pass plays down the field against a secondary that is banged up with injuries.

When The Knights are on defense they will not have to worry about arguably The Eagles two best offense weapons in star running back Montel Harris who torched the Knights in previous meeting back in 2008 with 112 yards on just 13 carries in a 34-7 win by Eagles in chestnut hill. Harris came into season as ACC Preseason player of the year but Harris is out with left knee surgery in August from lingering injury and is expected to miss the game against the Knights. The Eagles also loss there top wide receiver in Ifeanyi Momah who had eight catches for 157 yards before blowing out his ACL in the loss to Northwestern. The Eagles will lean on their sophomore quarterback Chase Rettigwho threw for 375 yards last week against Wildcats. The Eagles will still try to run the ball with Andre Williams who had 122 yds on 21 carries. Look too see if The Knights can make BC one dimensional and shut down the Eagles running game and put pressure on Rettig all night. The team that controls line of scrimmage and ball control will win this game  as neither side wants to fall behind by couple scores early especially the Eagles who will be short handed when the ball is kick off.
