UCF Basketball Prepares for New Season

This past week, UCF Basketball held media day to discuss the anticipation for the 2011-12 season.  In year two of the Donnie Jones era, the Knights are looking to improve off a 21-12 record and a birth in the College Basketball Invitational.

An experienced group returns to the hardwood, highlighted by senior A.J. Rompza and juniors Marcus Jordan and Keith Clanton.  Clanton recently picked up preseason first team All-Conference USA honors while Jordan was named to the second team.

Three transfers in Tristan Spurlock, Jeff Jordan, and Josh Crittle join the squad this year along with freshman Rod Days, Wayne Martin, and Kasey Wilson.

Early season non-conference action will find UCF facing off in Tallahassee against FSU and competing in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas.  Conference home games against Memphis, Marshall, and Southern Miss could prove critical in the race for a CUSA title.

We caught up with Coach Jones, Rompza, Jordan, and Clanton to get their thoughts on some of these topics and more.  Audio from their media day appearances is below.
