UCF has named head football coach George O’Leary as the program’s interim athletic director through 2015, according to a release from the school:

O’Leary will remain as head football coach and take on the A.D. job as of July 11th. He takes over for Todd Stansbury, who announced he was leaving UCF to become the A.D. at Oregon State on July 1st.
UCF President John Hitt is quoted in the statement regarding the choice of O’Leary:
“George’s leadership and knowledge of athletics – which includes programs beyond football – will keep UCF moving forward academically, competitively and in the community…His national connections will also help us continue building the Knights’ reputation around the country.”
O’Leary, who is entering his 12th season as the Knights’ head coach, also added in the statement:
“I love UCF and want to help us get better across the board…I have a great interest in the total package as far as UCF is concerned.”
A news conference is slated for noon Eastern on Tuesday.
