UCF Opens Conference Play with Familiar Foe

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Central Florida is in a familiar place this week as it prepares to open its Conference USA schedule against Marshall.

Not only have the Knights started the season 2-2 for the third straight year, but they face a Thundering Herd team Saturday that they have beaten six straight times since both teams joined the league in 2005.

But Marshall comes into this matchup with a lot more momentum than in recent years, having surprised Louisville on the road last week.

The game is also expected to be a battle of two former Miami high school quarterbacks in Knights’ sophomore Jeff Godfrey and the Thundering Herd freshman Rakeem Cato, who are both dangerous with their feet and through the air.
