How Will Jason Pierre Paul Perform in 2015?
I spoke with rising senior college linebacker Larry Butler about the unfortunate injury situation regarding New York Giants’ defensive end Jason Pierre Paul. Pierre Paul was wounded in a Fourth of July fireworks accident which resulted in a fractured thumb and an amputated right index finger. Butler uses his defensive knowledge to explain how Pierre Paul will have to adjust to playing with one less finger.
While Butler is fully healthy and ready for a big senior season, he once suffered three broken bones in his right hand as well as a fractured forearm. A tough and gritty competitor, Butler elected to play through the pain while wearing a club on his hand. Butler talks about what it was like to play football at a high level with this handicap and how he had to adjust his technique.
Prior to this freak accident, Jason Pierre Paul has had a reputation of not playing every snap with 100% intensity. Butler explains how this setback may light a fire underneath Pierre-Paul which may actually serve to his advantage.
As for Butler, he looks to make a splash this coming football season at Southern Nazarene University. In his final year of college eligibility, Butler is focused on having a career season which will open the eyes of NFL scouts. You can follow Butler’s weekly progress on twitter @_KingButler3.
