Despite Loss, Rays’ Relief Pitching Has Improved

Opening Day is in the books. The Tampa Bay Rays started their new season under Kevin Cash with a loss.

If you ask fans and even some local media members, they weren’t very impressed by what they saw during Monday’s game. Host of The Power Hour, Amanda Borges, spoke with’s MLB Insider Steve Kinsella about the sights and sounds from the day.

Trying to stay positive, Kinsella said that the team’s relief pitching was impressive.

“Overall the team struck out 11 batters, but the relievers came in and struck out 5 out of 6 in a row. [Chris] Archer didn’t look horrible, he hung a few pitches, you know…He hung a change-up… I’m sure he’ll be the first to admit that he doesn’t want to be throwing that change-up over the middle. Other than that, we did see some Rays get on base…”
