The Super 6, one of the fastest growing basketball organizations in the state of Florida will be hosting an Ivy Academic Individual Showcase in the Tampa Bay area on September 10.
Super 6 is looking to give an opportunity to high-academic student-athletes all throughout Florida to perform in front of coaches at high academic colleges and universities. This event is a one day that will start at 8:00 AM and lasts until 5:00 PM.
Top Academic Schools from the Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 will either be in attendance or will have access to live streaming for the event. Super 6 plans to run a series of drills that display the athlete’s fundamentals then play 4 on 4 and 5 on 5, in which all of the events will be recorded and live streamed. Some of the floor academic requirements Super 6 is looking for is 3.0 to 4.0 GPA unweighted, minimum SAT of 1000 and minimum ACT of 21.
As a former college basketball player and someone who was once that high schooler with college basketball desires, I always saw the benefits in events that included recording and live video streaming.
This event offers the opportunity for athletes at the camp to purchase their own mixtape from the camp. The reality for any high schooler with desires to participate in athletics in college at any level is that film and mixtapes are gold.
Having film or mixtapes is not a guarantee for a college scholarship, but along with academic scores and high school stats; it helps build the resume. What I also like about events like this is it creates more opportunities for the high academic athlete and the high academic colleges and universities. There are plenty of elite camps out there, but events that cater to high academics creates an awesome opportunity for all parties involved.
