Chris Jericho: From Hockey to Halloween

Why Jericho Claims He’s The Best In the World

The Power Hour co-hosts Matthew Sardo and Amanda Borges chat with Chris Jericho, six-time WWE world champion, about his new book The Best in the World: At What I Have No Idea. Jericho elaborates on everything from his escape of the Icelandic volcanic eruptions to his comments on the Tampa Bay Lightning to spending Halloween with his kids.

What’s the reason behind the title of your new book?

“Every one of my titles has a little bit of humor in it because I want people to know what they’re getting into. This is not serious, I never take myself too seriously and I like to let people know it from the offshoot. I believe the title is one of the most important things so the Best In the World is what I was calling myself in 2008 when I was the most hated Heel in the World and I just wanted to put that little tag line on the end of it just so you know… I don’t really think I’m the best in the world but I’m good at a few things.”

Do you dress up with your kids for Halloween?

“Of course! Every year. I always have and I always will. The thing is though that I’ve gotten into this thing over the last 4 or 5 years where a normal Halloween costume isn’t enough so, I like to be creativity, so I go to Walgreens on Halloween day and look through the costumes of what they have left, which is usually hardly anything, and then challenge myself to put together a costume from that. Like a couple years ago I was sexy Mitt Romney, and then I was Spongebob on an acid trip, and then I was Ozzy dressed up as a witch. But my favorite one was M&M Eminem. I got one of those giant M&M costumes and made it hip-hop.”

Jericho’s The Best In the World chronicles highlights of his past three years, including incidents such as scaring off Mickey Rourke, his feud with fellow wrester Shawn Michaels as well as stories with Bob Barker, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Al Sharpton, and Mike Tyson.
