Fantasy Football Preview: Tight ends and Receivers
With NFL training camp just weeks away, I caught up with fantasy football expert “Reverend” Ralph Mancini to preview this year’s group of tight ends and receivers. We examined players that are at a crossroads in their careers and what type of value fantasy owners can expect.
San Diego Chargers’ star tight end Antonio Gates was recently suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs. Mancini and I discuss how far down Gates will drop in fantasy drafts and whether or not he can play at a high level once he returns to action.
If you’re looking for the second coming of Antonio Gates, look no further than New York Giants’ tight end Larry Donnell. After 623 yards receiving and six touchdowns last year, expectations are high for the formerly undrafted target from Grambling State. Mancini breaks down where Donnell ranks among his top fantasy tight ends.
In addition to the tight end class, we also broke down several big name receivers and what their fantasy expectations should be in 2015. Can Calvin Johnson live up to his nickname of “Megatron” after a sub par season last year? Will Victor Cruz offer much fantasy value after suffering a season ending knee injury in 2014? And between Steve Smith, Roddy White, and Anquan Boldin, which of these older receivers has the most fantasy potential?
You won’t want to miss this in depth look at the fantasy projections for all of the aforementioned tight ends and receivers. For the best possible fantasy football insight, make sure to follow Mancini on twitter @ReverendRalph.
