It is already Sunday, but here are some last minute fantasy football pickups possibly available in your league and poised for big games:
<Derek Carr, Raiders QB. Comparing to a rookie quarterback’s standard number, Carr this season has not been all that bad – a decent touchdown-interception ratio (11-7) and 1,711 passing yards. His matchup this week, Denver, is amazing against the run but happens to give up a 254 passing yards per game. Not to mention they got scorched by Tom Brady last week (by no means is Derek Carr anywhere close to Brady).
Markus Wheaton, Steelers WR. Seeing the way Ben Roethlisberger is starting to play this season, it’s fair to consider other receivers in that offense other than Antonio Brown. At the receiver position, Wheaton is second in targets to Brown and has scored touchdowns in each of the last two weeks. Statistically speaking, the Jets defense isn’t that bad but they still manage to lose games and give up big plays every week. Wheaton could be a solid option this week.
Owen Daniels, Ravens TE. Daniels has been targeted nine times in each of the last two games by QB Joe Flacco. Up against a bad Titans defense, the whole Ravens has a great chance this week to really light up the scoreboard and Daniels has been an integral part of this offense this season.
Ravens D/ST. Let’s stick with this same game looking at the other side of the ball. In other words, I’m predicting the Ravens have complete control of this game on both sides of the ball. Mettenberger is getting his first start on the road (second overall) against a Ravens defense that has given up 70 total points in the last two weeks, but manages to make enough defensive plays to put decent fantasy outings. Playing a rookie quarterback this week who might be due for a rough game should be good news for anyone playing the Ravens defense this week.
