National Basketball Association pre-season games are being played and in a sense, the pre-season is a reminder of what the National Basketball Association of the 1950s was like. Anyone willing to throw down a basketball floor could land a game.

It appears that Quebec political leaders have thrown their support behind an effort to build a state of the art baseball park in an attempt to attract Major League Baseball’s interest and get a team in Montreal. Major League Baseball moved the Montreal Expos franchise to Washington after the 2004 season. 

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has expressed an interest in seeing his business add two teams in the future but before that happens, Manfred and his bosses, the 30 owners of Major League Baseball teams have to fix a problem.

Major League Baseball is not adding two teams to the existing business anytime soon. There is no indication that three stadium challenged franchises, Arizona, Oakland and Tampa Bay, will be leaving their local markets anytime soon either.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred is pitching the notion that there should be 32 teams instead of 30 big league ball clubs. Manfred has suggested that Montreal should return to the fold along with Mexico City.

The first getting to know you meeting with potential owners of a Montreal Major League Baseball team and Mayor Valerie Plante took place last week and Plante seems open to support Stephen Bronfman and Mitch Garber’s plan to bring a team back to the city.
