Captain’s Table/Walk the Plank: Buccaneers vs Saints. Despite how bad the Bucs looked against NOLA they still can win the NFC South

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell flat on their faces in a game they could’ve clinched the division championship Sunday. Falling behind early and never being able to get out of their own way the Bucs fell to the Saints 23-13. That can only mean it’s time for Carter Brantley’s “Captain’s Table/Walk the Plank” article. Without further ado

Walk the Plank:

Buccaneers Parking Lots

Good gracious was it miserable getting home. The good news is it was because the crowd was pretty solid, but got damn are those lots mismanaged.

Baker Mayfield

Just as. Absolutely horrible performance in a potentially pivotal game. If the Bucs fail to win the division, it feels like that contract might be slipping out of reach, despite an otherwise relatively good season.

The entire offense, really

Fumbles by White and Palmer. Picks from Baker. Ineffectiveness across the board. Not a fun game to watch at all.

Jake Camarda

2 shanks and a horrible kickoff. Did Camarda forget how to kick a football over the week? Got damn.

Derek Carr

I know the Saints won, and they could end up on top of the division, but my word is that offense putrid. Some really weird misses and decisions from Carr.

Dennis Allen

Him and Bowles both need to be gone, yet I don’t expect either to be fired because of complacency in both organizations. His decision to kick a field goal at the end of the game was incredibly cowardly and stupid. Could’ve ended it, but instead gave the Bucs a chance to make it more interesting than it should’ve been.

Captain’s Table:

The halftime flag football game

Hey, for a shitty game it was nice to see some actual football played at the half. Those kids could make some moves, I tell you what.

The fans

Hey, it was a really ugly, boring game, but no one in the section I was sitting in was particularly nasty or rude. Saints and Bucs fans alike seemed to be in recognition that these were 2 horrible teams, one of which gets to make the playoffs on the technicality of being in the NFC South. So that was nice.

The Panthers

They’re just so bad. It’s so fun. And you know what? The football fan in me would love for them to beat the Bucs next week. Tampa was so awful today, they shouldn’t be given the division for going 9-8 and managing to beat this hapless Panthers team. So hopefully Carolina can’t pull off a miracle, but it’d be kind of fun if they did.
