France would get the 2030 event and Salt Lake City would host the 2034 Games.

The International Olympic Committee apparently has found two regions willing to spend billions of dollars without getting much of a return, if any, on the investment to host the 2030 and 2034 Winter Olympics. France, which is hosting the IOC’s 2024 Summer Games, wants the 2030 Winter Olympics and Salt Lake City backers want the 2034 Winter Olympics. The organizers of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics have admitted that it is going to cost more money to host the games than originally anticipated. French taxpayers were supposed to be on the hook to the tune of  â‚¬1.87 billion. Now that figure is €2.4 billion in public money. That includes €1.3 billion from the French government and €1.1 billion from local governments. The taxpayers money will pay for security, transportation, and health.

If someone is going to the Paris event and plans to use the city’s Metro to get around, it will cost about double the normal price to use the transportation system. The price of a single ride on the Metro between July 20th and September 8th, 2024 which coincides with Olympics and Paralympics, is set to jump to four euros, from its current price of €2.10. A pack of 10 tickets will climb to €32 from €16.90. The French National Olympic and Sports Committee initial plan was to make public transportation free for those who hold tickets to Olympic events. Paris transportation officials claim that locals can still use the system at the normal price by buying an unlimited monthly or yearly pass. It is a small price to pay for the IOC’s glitzy party, a party that will cut off local streets in Paris for security reasons. The IOC will now talk to France and the United States backers and make sure they want to spend money for its 2030 and 2034 sports parties.
