The Larry H. Miller Company has money and a stadium site picked out.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has been speaking openly about adding two franchises to the business sometime in the near future. Manfred said as soon as the Oakland and Tampa Bay stadiums situations were solved, MLB would go ahead with expansion. MLB owners have given Oakland Athletics owner John Fisher permission to move his franchise to Las Vegas and Tampa Bay Rays ownership is close to finalizing a stadium agreement with St. Petersburg and Pinellas County, Florida elected officials for a stadium-village. John Loar is pushing to get a Major League Baseball expansion team for Nashville and has a stadium site in mind if MLB owners give him a call telling him welcome to the big leagues.

In Salt Lake City, the Larry H. Miller Company is moving ahead with plans to pursue an expansion franchise. The Larry H. Miller Company claims that it has “an exceptional ownership group, a shovel ready ballpark site, overwhelming community support”. Larry H. Miller Company CEO Steve Starks told KSL Radio in Salt Lake City that its full speed ahead for the group. “We’re putting all of the pieces together to be the most prepared and ready-to-go expansion city. We think that within months, we would be ready to go. We want to continue to send the message that everything is lined up in Salt Lake for Major League Baseball.” Salt Lake City has suddenly become a hot market. The owner of the National Basketball Association’s Utah Jazz, Ryan Smith, is rumored to be seeking a National Hockey League expansion franchise but Smith would need a new arena to have a state-of-the art venue that could house a basketball team and a hockey franchise. The International Olympic Committee has indicated Salt Lake City could host the 2034 Winter Olympics. Salt Lake City is now a sports market of interest.
