The PGA 2025 season begins tonight and this weekend
The 2025 PGA TOUR season begins in Hawaii this weekend on NBC, GOLF Channel, and Peacock, as two-time major champion and world number two ranked Xander Schauffele headlines an elite field at The Sentry at the Plantation Course in Kapalua to start the season in Maui.
The first signature event of the year brings together 60 of the world’s top golfers to compete for a share of the $20 million prize pool. Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 golfer, will sit out the tournament after suffering an injury while cooking Christmas dinner. Scheffler reportedly suffered a puncture wound from a broken glass and needed surgery to remove fragments of glass from his palm.
The Sentry is the first of eight Signature Events in 2025 and will feature some of the biggest names on the PGA TOUR, including Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, and Patrick Cantlay.

Primetime Golf for fans is great
Finally, golf fans get to watch the action from The Sentry at the Plantation Course in Kapalua to start the TOUR’s Opening Drive in Maui tonight at 6 p.m. Coverage will continue in primetime will continue on NBC, the Golf Channel and Peacock through the final round on Sunday.
This week’s PGA TOUR event will initiate an impressive 3,800-hour live golf tournament and studio coverage across NBC Sports’ platforms. There will be 2025, over 2,800 hours of live tournament and studio coverage on GOLF Channel.
ESPN+ Golf coverage will be focused on groups
The Featured Groups on Thursday and Friday will highlight 10 of the top 20 players in the world. Groups will follow world No. 2 and 2019. The Sentry winner Xander Schauffele, world No. 4 Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg (No. 5), and Hideki Matsuyama (No. 6).
