Let ‘em Run Sets the Stage for Pegasus Weekend
Let ‘em Run will be locked in on a stellar Late P5 at Gulfstream Park, featuring all stakes races and headlined by the Pegasus World Cup Invitational. John Kostin and I will take a deep dive into the marquee event during our Happy Hour Segment this Friday, 1/23/26, at 3 PM. We will focus on pace, value, and where bettors can gain separation.
Be sure to tune in again on Saturday at 12:30 PM for the main podcast. We will reassess the card after scratches and late changes. Saturday also features a mandatory payout in the Rainbow P6. That pool is expected to approach $4 million, so Races 8 through 13 will demand serious attention.
Race 9 – William L. McKnight Stakes (G3)
Race 9 goes off at 3:13 PM EST and kicks off the Late P5. The William L. McKnight Stakes covers 1½ miles on the turf and carries a $225,000 purse. This is a true marathon race, both for horses and handicappers. I want a price to separate from the crowd.
Hot turf rider David Egan picks up the mount on #4 Layabout at 10-1 for trainer Patrick Biancone. Egan has been sharp on grass, and this runner should be closing hard late. The #3 Ohana Honor at 5-2 comes in fresh off a short layoff and owns the top Prime Power with Flavien Prat aboard. #11 Divin Props (FR) at 5-1, with Oisin Murphy, could sit close to the pace and launch at the right time.
Race 10 – Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G2)
Race 10 runs at 3:45 PM EST over 1 1/16 miles on turf for $500,000. This is a spread race. A longshot here could blow the sequence wide open.
The #11 In Our Time at 5-1 looks like the fastest of the committed speed. Irad Ortiz Jr. can manage pace as well as anyone, and the TimeformUS Early Pace figure towers over the field. #12 Movin’ On Up at 12-1 had brutal trouble last out and still finished with interest. #3 Destino d’Oro at 12-1 handles big fields and gets turf closer Junior Alvarado for Brad Cox.
Race 11 – Inside Information Stakes (G2)
Post time for Race 11 is 4:18 PM EST at seven furlongs on dirt. This distance often rewards experience.
The #3 Jody’s Pride at 4-1 has run twice at seven furlongs and finished third both times. Context matters. She lost by a neck in this race last year and faced far tougher rivals in her other attempt. I will also take a look at #7 Grand Job at 6-1. She is second off the layoff, and Bill Mott usually strikes at this point in the cycle.
Race 12 – Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1)
Race 12 goes at 4:54 PM EST for $1 million at 1⅛ miles on turf. As John Kostin likes to say, this is where we get skinny.
Bro’s BRISnet Play of the Day is #8 Cabo Spirit at 8-1. “Big Money” Mike Smith stays aboard. He owns the lone E7 pace designation and sits third off the layoff. Trainer George P. ships well, and I do not see another runner pressing him early. #2 Program Trading at 5-2 will take money, and Flavien Prat may keep him closer than usual.
Race 13 – Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1)
The finale comes at 5:39 PM EST with the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational at 1⅛ miles on dirt.
The #1 Disco Time at 8-5 stands undefeated in five starts and shows tactical versatility. Bettors must decide how much weight to give class and distance. The upside play is #7 Tappan Street at 6-1. He has not reached his ceiling yet, and his last race set him up perfectly. His Grade 1 Florida Derby win last year speaks loudly.
Looking Ahead to Derby Prep Season
Next weekend turns the spotlight to Kentucky Derby preps. The Withers at Aqueduct, the Holy Bull at Gulfstream, and the Southwest at Oaklawn all award 20 points to the winner. John and I will return for Happy Hour on Friday, 1/30/26, at 3 PM, then go live from Monmouth Park on Saturday at 12:30 while competing in an NHC qualifier.
We will keep rolling out Bro’s BRISnet Play of the Day during the week. If you have been following, you know that strategy has paid off. Tune in, bet smart, cheer hard, fast horses equal serious fun, and as always, Let ‘em Run.
